At RIFRUF®, we believe that
our best friends deserve better
Back about four years ago, our family dog, Frankie, a Pitbull/Boxer mix, started struggling with severe paw allergies. Walks became almost impossible. Grass, dirt, dust, and even everyday outdoor surfaces would irritate his paws, leaving them pink, raw-looking, and painful. He was constantly licking them because of the discomfort.
Like many dog parents, we started searching for something that could actually protect him. We tried the mass-market dog boots you find online, but they fit poorly and Frankie chewed them off almost instantly. We tried rubber booties, slip-ons, and a few other options too, but they either flew off, bothered him, or quickly became chew toys. Nothing worked the way we needed it to.
Sadly, Frankie’s allergies became so severe that they led to even more health complications, and we eventually had to say goodbye to him. It was heartbreaking for our family.
That experience became the foundation for our motivation behind RIFRUF.
We started with the dog sneaker because that’s our bread and butter: functional footwear designed to protect dogs’ paws while giving them real style. But RIFRUF is bigger than just shoes. We see ourselves as a streetwear brand for dogs — one built on the idea that dogs deserve comfort, protection, and self-expression too.
Dogs are part of our families. They have personalities, routines, confidence, and style. So we wanted to create products that don’t just serve a purpose, but also let them show up in the world with the same energy and individuality they bring into our lives every day.
Since Frankie, our mission has been to help other dogs and dog parents avoid the frustration, stress, and pain that he — and our family — went through. RIFRUF is more than just a brand to us. It has a purpose: to make dogs’ lives easier, safer, more comfortable, and more expressive.
